VOYAGE LOGHome-textile export · Zhejiang, China

One client’s crossing,
logged in full.

Eight years exporting fabrics, sofa covers, curtains and cushions. The owner named three problems: short-video output needed to reach thirty a day, overseas inquiries were going cold overnight, and quoting lived in one veteran’s head. Our answer: three modules on one shared data backbone.

Name and commercial figures withheld at the client’s request. Effect figures are costed estimates with stated assumptions — never traffic promises.

Estimates against the client’s baseline of 30–45 hands-on minutes per video; results depend on footage quality and team adoption.

THE BUILDThree modules · one data backbone

Structured once,
used everywhere.

Product specs, color cards and historical deal prices get structured once, then serve all three modules — that single decision is what keeps the total cost down. When AI projects fail, it’s rarely the model. It’s that the company’s knowledge still lives in chat threads, spreadsheets and one salesperson’s memory.

MODULE 1

The surface

Batch video production line

Real footage first, AI in support: script, subtitles, four-language voiceover and template assembly run automatically overnight. Humans keep exactly two jobs — choosing the footage and approving the cut. Publishing goes through official platform APIs only.

FOOTAGE → SCRIPT → SUBTITLES → VOICEOVER → ASSEMBLY → REVIEW (HUMAN) → PUBLISH

MODULE 2

The working layer

Inquiry & quoting assistant

Every inquiry parsed for customer, product, quantity and certification needs, checked against that customer’s deal history, and answered with a draft in their language. Anything containing a price needs a salesperson’s click to send. Every edit is logged.

INBOX → PARSE → DRAFT → HUMAN REVIEW (MANDATORY) → SEND

MODULE 3

The deep

Order cost engine

Weight, width, composition, wastage, exchange rate, freight — all parameterized, so cost becomes a one-second lookup. Quotes at or below the cost line are held before sending, and a ±3% currency swing recalculates margins automatically.

PARAMETERS → COST → QUOTE CHECK → SENSITIVITY → HUMAN SIGN-OFF

Why module 3 pays for itself first

The classic exporting loss isn’t a miscalculated cost — it’s a salesperson promising a price mid-negotiation without live numbers. Make cost a one-second lookup and hold bad quotes before they send, and at this company’s volume, catching two or three loss-making orders a year covers the whole build.

THE CHARTTwo routes, both costed

Cloud or self-hosted?
Shown in writing.

ROUTE 1

Cloud APIs

Best quality, fastest launch

  • No hardware outlay, live in 3–4 weeks, scales for peak season without touching the architecture
  • Video generation quality is the best money currently buys — and the models improve on their own
  • The trade: video becomes a fixed monthly bill, and customer and cost data is processed in the cloud
ROUTE 2

Self-hosted

Data never leaves the building

  • Models run on GPUs the company owns — customer lists and deal prices never touch a third party
  • Lowest monthly cost; over the long run the math works out comfortably
  • The trade: open video models trail the top cloud models on quality and first-pass rate, and the build takes longer

Where we stand

We put the 24-month total of both routes — implementation, hardware, monthly costs — in front of the client, sensitive variables flagged. Quality versus data sovereignty is a business call, not a technical one. The decision stays with the client; our job is to make the numbers honest.

THE GATEThe clause that matters most

AI drafts.
People decide prices.

In export trade, one wrong decimal — or metres confused with yards — is real money, and a quote is commercially binding the moment it sends. So the human gate is welded into the architecture: nothing containing a price goes out without a salesperson’s confirmation, and the full edit trail is kept. This clause can’t be switched off, and we don’t take requests to.

  • Below the cost line: a hard stop before sending, with a written reason required to proceed
  • Off historical price: auto-compared with that customer’s past deals; past the threshold, flagged for review
  • Full audit trail: who changed what, when, and who hit send — all traceable
